National Catharsis
"In the city their bodies were delivered to the Piazzale Loreto, the scene of a mass execution of partisans the year before. The corpses were beaten and urinated upon and finally left to hang upside down, for public display, from a rusty beam outside a petrol station." - Colley, Rupert, Mussolini
This is one of my favorite moments from modern history. Mussolini was a goon, and an ass. He dominated Italian politics for 23 years, during which time he dismantled the structures which would allow peaceful opposition to his power, he enforced a police state, he even went ahead and made a limp-dicked effort at conquering Ethiopia. This man committed unforgivable crimes against the public, and in a rare moment of real justice, the public, the faceless, the many hands, executed and desecrated the fleeing inner circle of fascists, hanging them from a rusty beam in Milan. Most importantly of all, they took pictures. These photos stand as a warning towards any would be power-monger or psychotic politician looking to treat the country like an ATM machine. You will be shot, you will be pissed and spat upon, you will be hung for the world to see.
Crimes committed against the public by those holding public office, warrants public punishment, not a mild dressing down in front of a senate subcommittee, but real punishment, something with some teeth.
We are no longer ruled by politicians, they've been selling out their own position since before I was born. The masters of the universe are not Popes or Prime Ministers, they are CEO's and their grim investors innocently chasing that almighty dollar. The hold no public office, and wag their purchased puppets in our faces like a matador's cape. In a way, it's not their fault that they have wrested control of the world's wealth from us. They were just trying to make more money. Its not their fault that capital seeks to concentrate. Right? They were just doing right by their investors, plain and simple, right?
Fucking wrong. Profits should be born of contribution, not fraud, or predation. This used to be a commonly understood notion, now obscure and something to be laughed at by the well-heeled swine that lay in the cut. I am not here writing a term paper, I am writie with more emotion and impression than raw information, because really, who doesn't already know what I write to be true in their hearts?
The way I see it there exist certain industries in my country that have corrupted our government and expanded their position to the point that they can treat their customers with unbridled contempt, and suffer no ill consequences. I will list them here: Healthcare (Insurance and Pharmaceutical), Financial, Telecommunications, Agricultural. I'm sure there are more, And I'm sure this list will continue to grow, but to what end, huh?
I'm not here leading a charge, or thinking that if I excrete my biased thinking onto the internet, I will foment the coming revolution (although both notions have their appeal in fantasy). I am here to encourage us to start putting faces to some of these gluttonous sociopaths. We are world's away from post-fascist Italy, so as much as I know that world would be a better place with these people not just dead but displayed, I am not advocating (though very willing to turn a blind eye) murder, just good old-fashioned teenage hooliganism. I want to see Lloyd Blankfein cleaning human shit of his lapel with a handkerchief. I want to watch Mark Bertolini get hit upside the head with open gatorade bottle full of urine. I want the world to see their faces, the ones they've so intelligently kept from sight, just so we all know where we can flick our cigarette butts, who to fart at, where spit and fast food wrappers go. They already have are money, our safety, and our children's future in the greedy soft palms, why not let them handle our human waste as well?
With this statement in mind I offer the world an ongoing segment entitled "Trashcans of Humanity". I suspect that voting with a fistful of feces will affect greater change than voting in the ballot box.
Trashcans of Humanity:
Mark Bertolini
Meet Mark Bertolini, CEO of Aetna, one of the most profitable, and negatively reviewed insurance providers in the world. Bertolini is not above holding the health of his customers and the employment of lower level employees as a bargaining chip to insure that those making over 250,000 a year not suffer a 3% tax hike. Bertolini has the predatory intelligence of a gator and the unfeeling heart of a serial rapist, which is how he was able to turn massive profits during this Great Recession charging more for his medicaid and medicare plans. Since dead people can't ask for their money back, we the living, currently suffering under fiscal overlords like Bertolini, should take it back. Fuck this guy. He knows in his bones that the chickens are coming home to roost, why else we he be wearing a piss-colored tie. Please share any opinions, or interactions you may have had concerning Mark Bertolini. I look forward to his reckoning.
